Modular
Modular dramatically reduces the number of basic components needed to produce text. Rather than having the entire letters on tiles, the letterforms are broken up into modular fragments each occupying one tile. Only six modules are required to create all the letters, numbers and punctuation, amounting to a substantial economy of means. The pre-made characters were composed by assembling them as 3×3 squares. Lay out the text, convert it to outlines and then count the different modules. Those are also included separately, allowing you to compose new characters and symbols.
